The Giants' recent surge does not stem solely from Odell Beckham Jr.'s stellar play (though that certainly helps)—it's also a result of the defensive line waking up and playing near its potential. The unit has 15 sacks in the last two games, and the group will be a handful for a St. Louis offensive line that struggled to contain the blitz a week ago.
However, the Rams also have a juggernaut pass rush at their disposal. The Giants are 0-8 this season when Eli Manning is sacked more than once, so you can count on St. Louis bringing the heat all afternoon.
It won't be a defensive battle of the same magnitude we witnessed last Thursday between Arizona and St. Louis, but it will still be a hard-fought contest. Despite what many believe, these two struggling teams have something on the line.
If the Giants win the final two games, they'll finish with a surprisingly solid 7-9 record, which is quite remarkable considering they lost seven in a row at one point this year.
For the Rams, winning out will give them their first non-losing season since 2006, which is something the franchise desperately needs. Also, there's a decent chance that winning the last two games will force their hated rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, to finish last in the NFC West, and that's something every Rams fan would love to see.
