I just wanted to throw my 2 cents into defending Game Show Friday, and why I'd love for it to continue being part of the show.
I do understand its limitations: it's heavily dependent on the guest to make it entertaining. The new format has helped with that aspect of it, but if the boys aren't able to find interesting and knowledgable guests, that's a big strike against it. This last Friday for instance was hilarious, I loved every minute of it. But there are definitely instances where that has not been the case.
Where I find value in GSF is the fact that I'm still a newer hockey fan (I've really only been watching it seriously for about three years now), and it provides me an opportunity to learn things that I wouldn't have otherwise. Those random trivia facts, the stories behind the answers, it takes a long time to acquire that knowledge if you're doing it on your own. That's one of the aspects of the show that I absolutely love and appreciate: the boys will go off on tangents and down rat holes that enlighten me on the history of this awesome sport. I'm always trying to broaden my knowledge base with regards to hockey history beyond my favorite franchise, and GSF is definitely a huge part of that.
So while I do understand why GSF doesn't work occasionally from the perspective of how to make the podcast better, I just wanted to throw it out there that it has a lot of value for a person like me who's learning more about hockey each day.
