Let me first start off with a tl;dr. The game plays great.
Movement
Anyone who is skeptical of sprinting etc. should not be. It works very well, feels much more fluid than H4. If I had to sum this game up in one word it would be smooth. The thruster packs are a nice addition, and feel much less clunky than competitors such as Advanced Warfare, where it seems like it was thrown in last minute. Being able to boost out of the way to avoid a grenade is a great feeling. Meleeing while sprinting will cause you to do a "shoulder charge", almost identical to the Titan class in Destiny, apart from the fact that everyone can do it. The hover ability can come in handy sometimes, and it can tend to throw enemies off their game if they are tracking you and suddenly stop mid-air. Ground pound is actually fairly hard to use, and you have to score a direct hit on a full-health enemy to kill them AFAIK. Ground pound also has a fairly limited range.
Sound
Sound is great so far. The weapons sound crisp and contort, and of course change depending on what environment you are in. The Spartan callouts are a nice addition, if not fairly casual. It effectively eliminates the need to do actual callouts, so take that as you will. Personally I find the announcer OK for the most part, apart from the occasional puuuuuurfectttt. The announcer definitely has lost the original charm from the first two games, but it's not something to not buy the game over. Overall sound is nice.
Graphics
While currently the beta runs at 720p AFAIK, the graphics are nice, pretty much on par with H2:A, which is not a bad thing. Lighting and shadows are great. I did notice the Spartan customization screen has a very low-res character model, and it seems at the beginning of a match your team is also strangely low-res, but I will accredit that to it being a beta.
Weapons
First off the AR is actually not shit, on the contrary, it's actually very powerful. It's currently my tool of destruction. Similarly the SMG is actually very good. I can down people from 20 meters scoped in. What's that? ADS? Why yes, there is ADS on every weapon. Technically its "smartscope", whatever that is. 343i has made it very clear that they are not trying to force ADS upon the player, and every weapon has the same accuracy scoped out, bar the SMG and AR. I believe these become more accurate when scoped in, but that does not mean you can't get kills scoped out. Being hit while ADS while knock you out of ADS too.
Bottom Line
While this game is still a year out, by the way it is going I will definitely be picking it up. While it does offer a lot more than the past games, I do believe it can safely bear the name Halo. Movement is incredibly organic and smooth, allowing you to effortlessly dodge grenades and shake up your enemy. Graphics will only get better, and sound is on point. Do not take this as a comprehensive guide, just my thoughts after 24 hours. This by all means doesn't cover anything, such as the ranking system etc. Personally I will be picking this game up as of now day one, and I am willing to look past the MCC. Not forgive or forget, but I am excited for where 343 is taking the franchise.
