Just got fired from Jimmy Johns today... So here is how "freaky fast" really works Fresh fom Reddit

I'm disgusted by what I have seen in the 9 months I worked at a Jimmy Johns Franchise (3 as an inshop per, 6 as a shift supervisor).

What I saw disgusted me, beyond belief.

All names are fake. This took place in West Virginia, but much of it is, according to people I've talked to, common everywhere. Some is company policy.

Let's start with the important stuff, safety:.

-Many of the bikes used are in disgustingly bad shape. A few months ago, in front of 5-6 customers, Michael came in holding his rear reflector and made a joke about how it just fell off. This was at night, when it was dark. When I tried to send him home and call in a replacement driver, he called Charles (GM) who wrote me up for refusing to allow him to take any more deliveries.

-Michael (same idiot driver, he was one of the worst) also kept bringing up the fact that he bought his bike for $25, and that it, "Is just fucking falling apart."

-I witnessed a delivery driver very nearly plow into two other delivery drivers that were fixing one of their bike's brake in front of the store, because the brake pads on the offending bike were worn down. When I brought this up to Charles, he merely shrugged.

-I know of at least one time a delivery driver, off the clock, was hit by a car and it was his fault, which (according to policy) should have gotten him fired. Charles also knew and did nothing about it.

-the shop had a backup bike for times when tires popped. This bike had shady brakes and broken gears, as well as no lights/reflectors.

-According to policy, helmets were to be worn 100% of the time. After about a week, drivers stopped wearing helmets all together, even during audits (no points were ever taken off for this).

-Employees treated knives as toys. I saw people play fighting with the knives, as well as handling them incorrectly.

-I've seen in shoppers toss a knife in the trashcan, pick it out, and then slice bread with it.

-General food handling skills were not taught. Employees were expected to teach new hires how to do basic safety measures, like washing dishes, washing hands, and the like. This, rarely happened.

-How I (and most other employees) were taught to wash dishes was, "Take the dish, spray until it's 'clean', dunk for half a second, spray again, dunk for a second, dry. While this is theoretically effective, it leaves a lot up to chance.

-Handwashing is only done after the bathroom. I saw people go from washing dishes to the line without washing soap off their hands, or drivers come into the store, and onto the line without Handwashing.

-Most cleaning was done halfway, just enough so that it looked like maybe it had been completed. The mop might have touched the ground, but it certainly hadn't cleaned anything.

That is all for today, next time I will write up how management fucked with employees, and how awfully employees were treated (it will be much longer then this one!)
