After gaming on the original Playstation, Playstation 2, and Playstation 3 throughout my life, I sold my PS3 and purchased the Xbox One Halo MCC bundle on Black Friday. I was worried. I am an avid baseball fan and have enjoyed MLB The Show series of games, which are unavailable on Xbox. With the discovery of the Halo campaign, this worry has turned into a joy.
I have had only a brief exposure to the Halo franchise. A few multiplayer matches on Halo 2 and 3 were all I have experienced. I liked the FPS, but resorted to the COD series on PS3, given the lack of availability on the Playstation console.
I started the Halo: CE campaign a few weeks ago. The story wrapped me up immediately. Space, Science Fiction, War, Future - all ingredients for a game I would like. The plot only added intrigue. The anniversary edition with a newly rendered world made the game beautiful. The conclusion only made me want to play the next installment in the series sooner.
I started the Halo 2 campaign last Sunday and finished the game today. I continued to be floored by the story and continued plot twists. The cliffhanger at the end of Halo 2 has left me wanting more. The cutscenes are absolutely beautiful and have put me on the edge of my seat.
Matchmaking has been a bit of a different story. Initially it was frustrating with the lack of functionality, but that has improved. Being used to COD, I have found the game relatively difficult, but that has made me appreciate being skilled even more. Multiple posts on this subreddit have helped me understand the mechanics better.
I have never experienced a video game series quite like this. I have consistently felt as though I should relish the moment and appreciate what I am experiencing. What once was a worrisome change to a different gaming console has now given me zero buyer's regret.
I know there have been multiple first-time Halo stories on here, but thank you for letting me share my first experiences with you all.
