Since launch, there were a few exotics that I've been eyeing with the addition of some new ones after the DLC. Over time I slowly accumulated them such as the icebreaker, SUROS, Helm of Saint-14, the infamous Vex, etc. However, I was still missing some weapons/gear that I could only fantasize about in my dreams for a long time. Then suddenly, I did the nightfall yesterday and I was just going through the motions mindlessly like I have every week until I noticed the yellow shining text saying "[I] got gjallarhorn." I was speechless. I never expected to be blessed by RNG and receive such greatness. Still in shock, I ran Crota's End, defeated Crota, and finally got the Hunger of Crota (mini gjally). I went to bed that night extremely content having had my dreams become reality. The next day I check reddit to find that Xur is selling the glasshouse, obsidian mind, AND the icebreaker (my 3rd character needed one). At this point, my jaw just dropped. The 2 DLC exotics I've been trying to get just appeared open for the taking. I seriously couldn't believe that after the countless weekly runs and terrible RNG I was suddenly getting everything back-to-back. I jokingly told my friend that if I got the last conclusive item that I wanted from this game, the Hawkmoon, I would quit. He had a gorgon checkpoint and offered it to me so I just joined for the hell of it, even though I've never gotten an exotic from the chest. I headed for the chest and sure enough, I obtained the handcannon to rule them all and the monster that induces nightmares in all who have fallen before it in PvP. All I can say is, I don't know what to look forward to in this game anymore. I guess it really is the prospect of trying to get something amazing from RNG that keeps people playing. But now that I have it all, what am I playing for? To kick ass in PvP? To be able to breeze through PvE and get some random exotic that I don't have just for the sake of collecting it? I feel that Bungie has forgotten one of the most important elements of a video game. Keeping it fun. Sure, this game has arguably the best, most fluid mechanics for an FPS that seem to never get dull. But after a while, for the veterans, it's just a feeling of going through the motions and signing in every week to complete the reset (thought this was appropriate: Same Shit Different Week). Bungie obviously left a lot of room for creativity in their previous franchise, Halo, where you had Forge, Custom Games, and some insanely fun playlists like Big Team Battle, ZOMBIES, and Action Sack. I just want Bungie to remember the elements that make a game enjoyable and hopefully incorporate this in future installments. Sorry for turning this into a rant.
