With the recent closing of Everest College across Ontario. I have started to investigate Private Career Colleges.
The first school I would like to report on is the Canadian Beauty College. Rumours have been spreading like wildfire through the aesthetics world that their "franchise" is in serious trouble. Two of the remaining schools are corporate owned and the other 4 are owned by individuals. The company has gone through some serious internal changes over the past year. One of the two founders was forced to sell their half of the business to The Westney Group. An organization with ties to the construction community and no knowledge of Private Career Colleges or aesthetics.
All that remains of The Canadian Beauty College is Dorothy Bauco "The President" who has ties to The Canadian Aesthetics Academy a private career college that was also closed down by the Ministry leaving many students out in the cold, out of A LOT of cash and lots of wasted hours spent inside their classrooms.
They recently lost one of their locations to drop from 7 to 6 Locations in the GTA.
Keep a close eye on this school in 2015, I fear a grim outcome for anyone who is enrolled there or thinking about enrolling there.

ReplyDeleteI once worked with Dorothy at another Private Career College that went belly up. She came to that school from another school that went belly up. I can confirm that she has been part of 3 schools that had serious issues and folded. I am not surprised to see her name tied to another failing private career college.
I never really liked her much. She would always smile to your face and then the second you turn around, she'd be waiting with the knife to stab you right in the back.
I did not think it would be possible for her to be part of another college. I wen't on the Canadian Beauty College web site and there her name was right on the page: Message From the President. President Dorothy Bauco.
What a joke!!
