We demand that:
Rail and bus franchises are no longer sold to the private sector; That bus and rail organisations set up and owned by the Department of Transport take over operations when franchise contracts run out
That standard fare rises are capped at rate of inflation, fares moderated by the DoT;
That standard fares must never be higher than the equivalent cost of a journey by the average car based on the average fuel price (so it is always cheaper to go by train or bus if two or more people are travelling)
More freight to be moved to rail by undercutting haulage rates.
