[Request] Something SCI-FI that's awesome which I can watch with my 2 sons who are under the age of 13? Fresh fom Reddit

I have two boys who love sci-fi, one of them is dying to watch Alien yet he's still scared of the dark. They've seen all the classics I could think of, Close Encounters, The Black Hole, ET, Star Wars / Trek and other franchise flicks. Can anyone name a great sci-fi up to PG-13 that will impress them?
