New vs. Old Franchise Mode Fresh fom Reddit

Love the show and it's a hell of a game, certainly the best sports game money can buy. But does anyone remember how detailed the franchise mode used to be back in the PS2 days? You could upgrade facilities, buy team airplanes, name food/souvenir prices, etc. Miss those kind of details

[USA]/[AUS] [H] Alan Wake Franchise, Torchlight II, Frozen Synapse, Mark of the Ninja, Surgeon Simulator (All Steam) [W] Paypal Fresh fom Reddit

I've had some games sitting in my Steam Inventory for a while and have never had the desire to use them. So, I thought I would see if anyone was interested in buying. I've put USA and AUS as the country codes, because while I'm from Australia these are all games that are the same version in the US, and prices from steam are in USD.

I've included the current prices from the Steam Store, and rough prices for what I'm happy to see them go for. Happy to negotiate different prices if wanted.

GameCurrent Steam (USD)Sell For (USD)
Alan Wake Franchise$40$20
Torchlight II$20$10
Surgeon Simulator$10$5
Mark of the Ninja$15$10
Frozen Synapse*$12.50 ($25 / 2)$8

*Only 1 copy from the bundle of two

[Discussion] Most underrated μ's songs? Fresh fom Reddit

Exactly what it says in the title, what do you think are the songs from μ's that get the least recognition? It's pretty difficult to say which songs are the most and the least well known in such a popular franchise, but there always has to be some. It might be a song that's not in the game yet - for example, Kotori's Spicaterrible. Kotori isn't even my best girl, but that solo song of hers quickly found its place in my overall top 10 or even top 3.

MKX Latin American version Fresh fom Reddit

A friend got an early copy of MKX Latin American version, and we were amazed with the spanish translations on the box. My native language is spanish and honestly it seems that they used Google Translate for this. I'm impressed that such an important franchise doesn't pay much attention to these details. I was planning on getting this version (and then buying the Kombat pass) but after seeing this I would rather buy the limited edition to get a nice looking box with no grammar mistakes.

Who's next? - Quién le sigue? (Incorrect translation, should be "Quién sigue?")

Finish him - Remátalo (Acábalo would be the appropriate term. Not entirely incorrect but still weird)

Aplasta a tus oponentes con brutalidad intensa y grotescas fatalidades (Literally translated from Google)

Can F.L.U.D.D Really Make Mario Hover? Fresh fom Reddit

You know him. You love him. Yes the cute little robot from Super Mario Sunshine! Despite being one of the most recognizable Mario characters F.L.U.D.D (or Fludd for short) has only appeared in one Nintendo game. why you ask? Well... honestly no clue about that... But i do know that Fludd's hover physics don't add up. In order for Fludd to make Mario hover, (and incline a bit at a steady pace) Fludd would have to be able to surpass Mario's weight. After crunching the numbers, Mario comes out to be a full 833N based on MatPat's Mario physics a while back. Since Force = Mass x Acceleration, in order to find the force of the push from Fludd, we would need to find the mass of the water inside Fludd's tank, and the rate that Mario travels upwards when hovering. Knocking the easy one out first, the tank in the bottom right hand corner of the screen can be measured by pixel in orver to calculate the volume of the tank, and this volume can be used to figure out the amount of water stored within Fludd. After crunching the numbers, and a little unit conversion, Fludd's tank can store close to 3 gallons of water (remember, this is a middle schooler coming up with this math, its probably not correct.) Now, in order to calculate the acceleration upwards of Mario, there would need to be a translation to any modern unit of measure. Speaking as Mario is said to be 2.75 meters (according to MatPat in the How Fast Is Sonic episode.) Comparatively to the cubical rocks just off the docks, Mario travels about 1 meter upwards over the span of about 4 seconds (according to the super Mario wiki) (once again, middle school math, i'm probably wrong.) Now knowing Fludd's water tank storage, and Mario's velocity change rate, i am able to solve what the force pushing upwards is on Fludd's water jet-pack. Unfortunately for the Mario franchise, the numbers don't add up, and it turns out that not even the rocket nozzle on Fludd is enough to push Mario off of the ground in the world of Super Mario Sunshine. Obviously there are some factors not accounted here like how much water is used from the tank, but i believe that i have enough evidence to support the claim that Mario's Rocket Packed friend, is just a Rocket Fail.

(please note, this is a script for a potential video in the future, i just didnt feel up to doing all of the work that goes into it, i just wrote up a script. :) )

The Smash Amiibo were a test for Nintendo Fresh fom Reddit

Do you think they will ever make 50+ characters for a single game? Doubtful. These were a test for Nintendo to get in the toy/game business and gauge interest in not only the market but individual franchises within the company as well as third parties. That's why we see shortages of less popular Nintendo games (LM, Pit, Marth). NoA had to guess how popular these would be 9-10 months ago. There's nothing they can do now short of announcing a re-stock. Think the recent Play-Asia Pre-Sales. All of a sudden hard to find characters pop-up for delivery come Summertime. I believe they already have planned a re-stock without formally announcing it yet in NA. Stores in JPN are getting word of Summer (July) re-stocks direct from Nintendo. The Spring/Summer re-stocks of Marth (TBD), Shulk (GS) and Meta Knight (BB) hint at this in NA. Don't be surprised to find some hard to find Amiibo in NA in the future.

To hell with Taken 3 Fresh fom Reddit

Mr. Megaton, the spoiler of franchises. If the camera didn't cut every second it cuts twice a second, even on slow scenes. It's obnoxious, the lighting looks like crap, and I'm just upset that what could have been a cool remake of "The Fugitive" was turned to this crap. If I recall he ruined the transporter series as well with number 3.

Sure not every movie needs to bet milked but it could at least be milked with dignity.

Bloodborne Review: An excellent game marred by shallow endgame content/design flaws [Spoilers] Fresh fom Reddit

After sinking more than 70 hours into Bloodborne and experiencing everything I could from NG+ to beating all the chalice dungeons, coop and lots of PvP I thought I would share some of my thoughts and opinions regarding the game as a whole as well as the Endgame Content.

Now don't get me wrong. I love Bloodborne and am eagerly looking forward to future patches and content. I'm just not happy with the longevity of the game especially when compared to previous entries in the franchise, more of which you'll find in my video below.

EonKayoh's 2015 First Round Mock: What Makes Sense To Me - No Trades Fresh fom Reddit

I guarantee you that after pick 1, this is going to be one of the weirdest 2015 mocks you'll see in 2015.

WARNING: This isn't what I think will happen, it's what I think should happen.

  1. Tampa Bay selects Jameis Winston . This is a lock to happen now, plus it makes the most sense. If I had to rank QBs from the last 5 drafts, Winston would be between Bridgewater and Newton. He's a franchise changer; I could see Jameis being a top 10 QB in the NFL within 3 years, especially with the weapons they've got in Tampa.

  2. Tennessee selects Amari Cooper . Tennessee has receivers that could be great, but haven't lived up to their potential. Amari Cooper is the most NFL ready WR prospect in this class, and if the Titans are ready to go all-in on the Mett project (which I think they are), they need to get a true #1 option - enter Cooper.

  3. Jacksonville selects Randy Gregory . Gregory is the best LEO prospect in this class, and you should be thanking me Jacksonville fans, because I really fucking want Gregory in Atlanta. Length, bend, explosiveness, strength, just everything. A franchise changing defensive player, to quote my boy /u/barian_fostate.

  4. Oakland selects Vic Beasley . Oakland's got a bunch of great run defenders - Ellis, Tuck, Mack, plus Lofton and Dan Williams, so Leonard Williams would be excessive here. What they don't have is a #1 pass rusher. Khalil Mack is an excellent supplementary pass rusher, and an amazing run defender, but Oakland needs their ace, and that's what Beasley provides.

  5. Washington selects Marcus Peters . Washington keeps screwing around with day 2 corners, and they aren't working. They needs a true #1 CB, and Peters fits that role. Peters followed #1 receivers at UW, so his coverage statistics aren't eye-popping, but he's the best CB in this class by a wide margin. He's also coming from the same system that Falcons CB Desmond Trufant came from, and Trufant's transition to the NFL was extremely smooth.

  6. New York selects Alvin Dupree . A bit early some might say, but he's the clear cut best EDGE prospect left on the board imo. NYJ haven't had a top level edge rusher since Abraham left in 2006. Dante Fowler isn't a good enough athlete to warrant this pick, and Shane Ray is too small and stiff to fit this scheme. The Jets don't need another defensive lineman, and I think Fitz is a quality NFL QB, especially now that he'll have Marshall, Decker and Kerley to work with. Pass rush takes priority here.

  7. Chicago selects Henry Anderson . Chicago is transitioning Vic Fangio's 3-4, and they've got two huge needs: RDE and NT. NTs can be had in later rounds, but there isn't a better 3-4 DE in this class than Anderson. He can do everything that Leonard Williams can do, but he's got a significantly better first step, and is a much better pass rusher. Chicago already has Ray McDonald, and now they've got their own version of Justin Smith.

  8. Atlanta selects Kevin White . With no elite EDGE prospects left on the board, the Falcons go with BPA and draft White, who they can pair with Julio on the outside to give the already weak secondaries in the NFCS even worse nightmares. This move allows Roddy White to move into the slot, where he averaged about 0.18 more YPRR run in 2014 than when he was outside.

  9. New York selects Jake Fisher . The Giants need a RT to push Pugh inside to guard. You don't want a guy like Collins or Scherff here - they're both better suited at G than T and you'd just end up with a bunch of guys who can't play tackle. Fisher is the best T prospect in this class imo, and at 6'6 305 with adequate arm length, he's one of the very few OLinemen in this class that I'd trust to block NFL edge rushers and not get his QB killed.

  10. St. Louis selects Devante Parker . The Rams have receivers, but none of them are a true #1. Pettis proved in 2014 that he can be an extremely reliable target, but he isn't a guy that defenses need to pay special attention to. Austin is a guy who you've got to manufacture touches for. Bailey is an absolutely ideal slot receiver, and I'd argue he's probably the best player in this WR corps. Parker is a guy who can be your #1, draw coverage, take the top off a defense, and get open without the need to manufacture touches for him.

  11. Minnesota selects Brandon Scherff . Minnesota needs a guy at LG who can relieve some of the pressure on Matt Kalil, and while I like Ali Marpet more in a zone blocking scheme, Scherff is a power player and a guy who can move bodies off the snap. Scherff needs work in pass pro, but he's still an upgrade over Charlie Johnson.

  12. Cleveland selects Carl Davis . I've actually got Davis graded slightly ahead of Henry Anderson as a 3-4 DE, but he isn't a guy you should expect to play more than ~600 snaps a season. Fangio uses his DEs on every snap possible, and that's something Anderson can do, but Davis not so much. That's not a problem for Cleveland though, since only one of their DLinemen (Desmond Bryant) played more than 511 snaps in 2014. Carl Davis is the most disruptive interior defensive lineman in this class. You watch him play and he can win with power or quickness, he's got solid hand usage, and he's shockingly fast in pursuit for a man his size.

  13. New Orleans selects Byron Jones . It breaks my heart to do this - I fucking love Byron. But at the end of the day, I don't think there's a better pick for New Orleans in this situation. They've got a decent edge duo - Spencer and Galette. The secondary is awful though, and fixing that all starts with finding a true #1 shutdown corner. It might have only been the ACC, but QBs throwing into Byron Jones' coverage had a passer rating of 26.3, a truly ridiculous feat. Top that off with the fact that he's a 3 sigma athlete and you just can't pass up on him in this situation.

  14. Miami selects Ali Marpet . Marpet is the best ZBS guard in this class and it isn't even close. This is one of those picks where if it actually happened, a majority of the fanbase would be up in arms, but by the end of the season they'd think their FO was brilliant for the pick. This helps Brandon Albert and hopefully means they can move Pouncey back to C.

  15. San Francisco selects Leonard Williams . This is the earliest spot that Leo makes sense at to me. SF needs to replace McDonald at LE since they're sticking with their 3-4 defense, and Dockett isn't it. Even if you can convince yourself that Dockett is that guy, Justin Smith is on the verge of retirement and would also need replaced. Williams is a superb run defender, but probably won't ever be an elite pass rusher, which is okay here.

  16. Houston selects Cameron Erving . This was probably the easiest pick for me to make since Washington at 5. Houston's biggest need is arguably center with Chris Myers out the door, and Erving is the best C prospect we've seen in years. If that wasn't great enough, Erving also has the versatility to play just about anywhere on the OL - although I'm sure Houston is hoping to not have to use him anywhere but C.

  17. San Diego selects La'el Collins . Collins is a guy who I think can play anywhere on the OL - his ideal position I think is LG, but given a year to develop I think he could play C, he's a decent backup tackle, and RG would be almost as strong a position for him as LG. I think Orlando Franklin plays RT, Fluker kicks in to RG, Dunlap sticks at LT and then Collins can play LG and finally get rid of Chad Rinehart.

  18. Kansas City selects Ereck Flowers . KC's biggest need is OL, specifically RT, and Flowers is an absolute athletic freak. He's consistently able to generate a staggering amount of force at the point of attack, and that's something Charles will absolutely love. He got beat a few times by Randy Gregory, but held his own for the most part, which is very impressive.

  19. Cleveland selects Owamagbe Odighizuwa . Diggy reminds me a lot of Orakpo with the way he gets pressure. He's not a bender, but everything a pass rusher can do that involves power, he's great at. Powerful, great hands, very disruptive, he's a great 3-4 OLB prospect. I think he can come in and immediately replace Sheard's role in this defense.

  20. Philadelphia selects Jaelen Strong . Bradford has never had a good, big, physical target. The biggest WRs he's ever worked with were Kenny Britt and Jared Cook, two guys who infamously aren't team players and don't fight for the ball. Strong is the opposite of that mentality, while retaining the big body and athleticism.

  21. Cincinnati selects Preston Smith . If there's one thing that all CIN DEs have in common, it's length. Preston Smith is 6'5 with 34" arms and at 271, he's one of the freakier athletes in this class. Smith is a guy who you can play on the edge, then kick inside to rush the passer. He's one of the very few 6'4+ guys ever who can still bend around the edge, and plays with great power to anchor vs the run.

  22. Pittsburgh selects Eric Rowe . I know, I get it, the Steelers don't draft CBs in the first round. I don't care. Their biggest need right now is CB, and there's nothing close to being as dire a need as that is. If they don't take Rowe or Kevin Johnson here, they'd be stuck with a subpar edge rusher like Eli Harold, Shane Ray or Dante Fowler, who'd come in, be lucky to ever get more than 8 sacks in a season, and be labeled another bust just like Jarvis Jones has been.

  23. Detroit selects Xavier Cooper . Detroit lost one of the best 3-techs in the NFL, plus Nick Fairley and C.J. Mosley. The former two have been effectively replaced with Ngata and Tyrunn Walker, but Suh's disruptiveness hasn't been anywhere near replaced. That's exactly what Cooper brings to the game. He might not have the longest arms, but he makes up for that with freakish athleticism and evasiveness that he uses to get around blocks more effectively than literally any other interior DL in this class.

  24. Arizona selects Kevin Johnson . With Cromartie having signed to the Jets, Arizona needs somebody across from PP who can cover #2 receivers in man. Johnson is the best CB on the board right now and there are no top pass rushers available. There's enough ILB depth in this class to wait until later to grab one, so get your CB now, while you still can.

  25. Carolina selects DJ Humphries . Humphries is the #2 pure OT on my board, behind Fisher. If we're including hybrid players, he's #3 behind Fisher and Collins. Either way, you can look at him as sort of the prototypical LT prospect. I almost had Humphries going to the Giants instead of Fisher, but Fisher's versatility and athleticism won out. You can't afford to let Byron Bell protect Cam Newton for another year, it's taking years off the kid's career. Humphries won't be flawless at first, but he'll be an upgrade over Bell, and he could be a perennial all-pro type in short time.

  26. Baltimore selects Nelson Agholor . Baltimore needs a CB, but there isn't a 1st round quality CB on the board, and never reaches for players based on need. Baltimore's 1a and 1b needs right now are CB and WR, so I went with the best player on the board at 1b. Here's a guy who is neck and neck with Jaelen Strong for the 4th best WR in this class. They're completely different players, but that's what makes it so hard to rank one above the other. Agholor is a smooth route runner, sneaky fast, and adds value as a return man since BAL lost Jacoby Jones to SD. Agholor has an insane catch rate too, something that shows his ability to get open and catch the ball consistently.

  27. Dallas selects Grady Jarrett . The best pure 4-3 1 tech in this class, and it's not even close. Shelton is nowhere near athletic enough to play in Dallas, while Brown and Goldman are graded below Jarrett for me. This guy is an ox, despite not being your typical 320+ pound NT. Reminds me a LOT of Timmy Jernigan, who everybody wishes they would have taken earlier in 2014.

  28. Denver selects TJ Clemmings . Clemmings is an athletic freak with potential through the roof. His floor is Robert Gallery, but his ceiling is Jason Peters. He'll need special attention to become great, and when you're blocking for PFM, you're forced into being the best player you can possibly be - nothing less is acceptable. Clemmings is a perfect pick here because he can play RT for a time, they can cover him with TEs in pass pro if necessary, he can adapt to the speed of the game there, and he'll be under the tutelage of Manning and a group of vet OLinemen, headed by Clady.

  29. Indianapolis selects Paul Dawson . The #1 stand up LB prospect in this class. Had a terrible showing at the Combine, but completely redeemed himself at his Pro Day with an acceptable 4.76 40 and an insane 6.76 3-cone. I wanted so badly to like Dawson as a prospect but his combine made it very difficult. He's got the best tape of any LB, but when somebody is that bad of an athlete, you just can't trust it. His Pro Day completely redeemed him , and he's back to being the #1 LB on my board. His instincts are elite and while he's a freak athlete, he's faster on the field than most due to his ability to diagnose and react.

  30. Green Bay selects Stephone Anthony . Before Dawson's pro day, Anthony was my #1 ILB. He's got instincts, aggression, and he's one of the few LBs in this class who can keep up with and cover top TEs. Effective pass rusher, able to diagnose and break up plays before they develop, he's the ultimate prospect - he just needs a bit of developing. The Packers' biggest need right now is LB, so this really is the perfect pick for them.

  31. New Orleans selects Eric Kendricks . This is what you call a run, folks. Dawson, Anthony and Kendricks, and suddenly there are no top flight ILBs left in this draft. Kendricks isn't the biggest, fastest or most agile guy, but he's got an excellent combination of size, speed, agility and talent. He can be a true three down defender, especially now that NO is playing more 4-3 looks than the traditional Rob Ryan 3-4 stuff.

  32. New England selects Eddie Goldman . My top NT in this class. Yes, even above Shelton. Neither one of them is going to be a major contributor in the passing game, but Goldman is an impressive athlete for a man his size. His bench press number left a little to be desired at his pro day, but get him on an NFL training regimen and his upper body strength will be NFL-ready in no time. His lower body strength is head and toes above the rest of this year's NT crop, and that's far more important for NFL linemen, especially the run stuffers. Instant, day 1 starter at NT to replace Wilfork.

Some thoughts on the year that was Fresh fom Reddit

Incoming slightly drunken wall of text

What a season, what a crazy, unpredictable, unlucky season for this awesome franchise. 2014-15 will go down in history as the year the Jackets were about 2 weeks from making a huge run at the playoffs. But, at the end of the day it wasn't meant to be, just way too many injuries to key players. Yet, dare i say it, this season has been just as much of a success as last year! With the Jackets winning against the Isles tonight, this season we've recorded second highest number of wins in franchise history! With over 500 man games lost this is an awesome accomplishment, just imagine where how many wins they could have if it were only 250 man games...Furthermore, we were one win away from having as many wins as 4 playoff bound teams.

How about some of the seasons that the boys have had though! Where else to start but with Nick "Fuck Regression" Foligno, the absolute heart and soul of this team. Hopefully he can be given the C over this offseason so he can officially be Captain Crazy Eyes. But what a season he has had, currently sitting in the top 10 in points with 31g 42a 73p(in front of guys like Stamkos, Malkin, Toews and Getzlaf i might add). Oh and we resigned him midseason!

Next up, Joey! Talk about earning a pay check, 26g 45a 71p he's shown everyone that he's the franchise 1c this team has desperately been waiting for! Also is anyone more unstoppable in the shootout, i almost feel bad for any goalie who has to face him. Lastly it appears to me that any of the friction that was caused by both parties actions prior to Joey signing has become water under the bridge, which is great news.

What about the Chaperoned line! Hartsy, with 27g 31a 58p looks reborn with Wenny and Dano, really enjoyed what these guys have done over the last month or so! Dano with Hartsy is just pure gold and Wenny has really developed after a shaky start to the season.

This could go on for days, so maybe its a good time to focus on the not so positive aspects of the season. For starters HCTR keeps playing Jared "Makes a pylon look useful" Boll, i'll never for the life of me understand why Dano got scratched for him a few games back. As well as this the role of an enforcer who can't produce anything has died out, John Scott and Boll are basically the last, and even Scott had pretty much a career year urgh. Next we traded away Wiz, one of our better Dman, for about 30 higher spots in the draft as well as Karlsson and Bourque. Now while both of these guys have been good for the time they've been with the team, i can't help but feel we got a somewhat low return for Wiz. However, it did clear some cap space, which assisted the Jackets to resign Cam, Doobs, Bob and Foligno to their respective contracts. Lastly, the team now has a dilemma to resolve over the offseason, which will likely end up with a club favourite being moved, or not resigning. The team just simply has too much talent at Centre, which means that in my eyes either Anisimov or Letestu won't be back next year :(. But, all in all, this has been an incredibly positive year for the Jackets despite missing the playoffs and being injured a proverbial fuckton.

Finally to finish this arduous read, the Jackets have set some incredible milestones during this season, from having two players score 70 points in a season, to having more than 500 man games lost. Yet despite it all, they never gave up, even when it was clear to all that the season was a complete write off. This is what needs to be taken away from this season, forget the injuries, forget missing the playoffs. Next season will be better, our rookies will have another preseason under their belts, guys like Joey and Jenner will be stronger, faster and more confident and of course we will have our reliable guys like Foligno, Doobs and Bob. Add into that, a top 10 pick this draft as well as Rychel and possibly Bjork and Milano.

It is simply an amazing time to be a CBJ fan, 2014-15 may not have gone quite to plan, but, i can't wait for 2015-16, watch out Metro and the rest of the NHL cause we'll be giving you hell all next season!

FIRE THE CANNON ONE LAST TIME FOR THIS SEASON C! B! J!

Again, apologies for the incredible wall of text, i was slightly (very) drunk when i started writing this. Also /u/topcopontheforce told me to post it haha

Something I Want to Point Out Fresh fom Reddit

As a fellow habs fan, I would just like to point out how extremely fortunate we are to consistently have a competitive team.

I understand it may not be the same as the original 6 days when we were almost garunteed a stanley cup.

We may not be competitive every single season, but we're not constantly in last place either.

In the past 5 years, we have been to the conference finals twice. Considering the competitiveness of modern hockey, we are extremely lucky to had been able to watch the habs even though we haven't won a cup.

60 years ago, the leafs thought they were a cinsistent cup contender, and have won the cup once since. We are lucky to even see the habs finish in the position they have this season.

So no matter how good, or how bad our playoff run is this season, just remember how fortunate we are to cheer for a franchise dedicated to being so superb.

Top 5 happenings of the 2014-15 Miami Heat season Fresh fom Reddit

This season wasn’t only pain. It was just mostly pain. Lots of great things happened this year and, today of all days, I think it’s best if we revisit them to raise our spirits a little.

We’re all looking to the future - and we should, it looks really bright for this franchise. But let’s take a moment to look back on this season past.

Here are my (mostly arbitrary) five favourite things about this season - what are yours?

5. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh represent at all star weekend

Canada’s most regrettable export Justin Bieber may have mobilised his prepubescent sleeper cell into propelling Toronto’s Kyle Lowry into D. Wade’s starting spot, but the Heat still had two representatives in New York for All Star 2015.

Apparently the East fell to the West in the all-star game, but all eyes were on the weekend’s main event: the Shooting Stars challenge. Chris Bosh along with teammates Dominique Wilkins and Swin Cash won their third consecutive Shooting Stars competition - who’s three-peating now, San Antonio?

4. James Ennis defenestrates Rasual Butler

Fresh out of winning Australia’s NBL championship with the Perth Wildcats, offseason signing James Ennis leaps like a kangaroo to dunk it over Washington's Rasual Butler during the Heat’s very first game of the season. The early candidate for dunk of the year was a glimpse of the absurd athleticism Ennis brings to the team and although the remainder of his season wasn’t exactly setting rookie-of-the-year ballots ablaze, Heat fans continue to watch this promising young talent develop rapidly.

3. Heat Beat Cleveland Cavaliers on Christmas Day

With Chris Bosh absent with injury, Wade (12/28 FG) and Deng (11/16) combined for 56 points in the best Christmas gift Santa could have left under my tree. The ten-point Heat win served as the Ghost of Basketball Present showing LeBron “Ebenezer Scrooge" James (30 pts, 9/16) just how many fucks are given over him leaving the franchise the previous summer. A joyous holiday indeed.

2. Heat trade Norris Cole, spare parts found in arena janitorial closet for Goran Dragic

Pat Riley solidified his bid for executive of the year at the trade deadline by convincing Phoenix to part with The Brothers Dragic in return for Norris Cole, Shawne Williams, Danny Granger and Justin Hamilton. I’ll miss Cole, and I’m glad he’s doing better with New Orleans, but when you have a chance to trade all the pieces you don’t want for the best guy on the trade block, you take it without hesitation.

Goran Dragic has yet to commit to the team past the end of this season, but he has given nothing but indications that he plans to do so. I hope the organisation makes like Philip J. Fry and tells him to shut up and take their money. Overpay him now and look like a genius when the salary cap goes up.

1. Hassan Whiteside

Hassan Whiteside is a young, seven-foot, shot-blocking center with athleticism, hands like a wide receiver and footwork that makes Erik Spoelstra look bad. How he was overlooked by the entire league and had to even step foot on a basketball court in Lebanon completely fucking baffles my mind.

Whiteside was signed by the Heat in late November, but hoops historians will pinpoint January 25th, 2015 as the exact date of this potential franchise big man’s “coming out party”. Wiltside scored 14 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked a ridiculous 12 shots in a win over the Chicago Bulls - and accomplished this triple-double in only 24 minutes of play. If that wasn’t enough, he’s locked-in for another year at a bargain-price contract before hitting free agency. He’ll show us just how much he’s worth next season, but for now, he is surely a legit contender for the Most Improved Player award.

Is there any reason an employer wont need to give a contract? Fresh fom Reddit

Hope you can help with this:

My wife and I are fairly new to Canada and she just got a job at a franchise healthy fast food outlet. It's a full time job 30-40 hours per week but no employment contract given, nor has she signed anything.

It's been 2 weeks since she started, and she loves it there, and doesn't want to rock the boat, but the last time she asked, her manager replied on email: 'I don't have anything official in regards to your employment, but I can write a letter to effort your employment with us. Let me know if that would be OK'

That doesn't sound right at all, at least to me. Any advice greatly appreciated?

Taking the Next Step: The Near Future of the Wolves Fresh fom Reddit

If we're thinking about the future of the Wolves, we need to expect another roster overhaul. My big concerns stemming from this season is our future with Rubio, Pekovic, and Martin.

Rubio is in a very small minority in that he is a starting PG who isn't a scoring threat. That is a huge problem for an offense. As much as I love Rubio as a player my confidence in him to improve in skill and durability is dwindling.

Pekovic has just not been good for the last few seasons. I used to think he had a potent effect on the floor. The unfortunate truth is that he is inefficient on offense and has no impact on defense. He's slow in transition and has no real presence on the boards. On top of that, hes a hole in our cap-- Pekovic is being paid $12 million every year through 2018.

I really like Martin. He's scores easily on every part of the floor and gets to the line. His age is something that hangs over his head. He's being paid $7 million through 2017 so I expect him to remain on the roster. A very very big hole will need to be filled when he is gone as he is one the the Wolves' top scorers.

In my opinion, for the Wolves to take the next step 2 things need to happen:

Something has to happen with Pekovic and Rubio-- be it improvement in efficiency or having them moved

It is paramount to improve our roster through the draft and free agency. A defensive center is needed. Towns is perfect for this. If we end up having to take Okafor it wouldn't be ideal, but it's the best decision in that situation. A worst case scenario would be that they are both gone when we are up. Some notable free agents that would improve our roster: Marc Gasol, Jimmy Butler, Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, Gref Monroe.

Something that is somewhat forgotten about the future is our head coaching situation. I don't see Flip as a long term option and I hope he doesn't force himself onto the position. We need a (somewhat) young and intelligent mind.

It's obvious that a lot needs to and is going to happen to take the next step. I just want to break it down and see what could happen and how. I love the Wolves franchise and I think we have a bright future ahead. Please, any discussion or comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Polamalu retirement question Fresh fom Reddit

Is it just me or is the media having a circle jerk frenzy with troy's retirement. It seems like every other article on nfl, espn or any other newslet is talking about it or what his retirement means for the steelers. Yes he was a great player but I feel like with the other retirements that have happened lately there was a much much smaller media frenzy. Like Patrick Willis or even ray lewis (both of which, just as influential/good If not more at their respective position). It's not like it was right out of anywhere either. They have pretty much been saying it was going to happen since the season ended. I'm not angry or anything. The guy deserves respect. Just would like to see something else sports related like draft prospects and stop seeing the same over the top article saying how the legendary, best safety ever, troy p is ascending into football heaven and is leaving the steelers defense and franchise in a state of disarray.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is definitely the best Dragon Ball game in years, though certainly not without its flaws, which shakes up the typical formula and is bound to shape the future of the series.

Game Informer 7.5/10

Link to Review

Xenoverse stands as one of my favorite Dragon Ball Z video games. I like taking my own custom character into familiar battles from the show, and I enjoy acquiring new equipment as I progress. My character may have looked nothing like me, but I really felt like I was actively participating in the flashy action alongside the familiar cast.

CG Magazine 7.0/10

Link to Review

People unfamiliar with games themed around Dragon Ball Z will not find much here to latch onto, but fans of the Dragon Ball Z franchise will not know what to expect from a twist and turned filled time travel story that will rearrange all of their favorite characters until those fans can put them back in order again.

XGN 7.0/10

Link to Review

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is the best Dragon Ball game in years, despite the somewhat repetitive gameplay. The (online) RPG elements are well thought-out, but the loading times are not Xbox One worthy. Creating your own unique fighter is a great addition.

IGN 6.7/10

Link to Review

Customizing my own character’s equipment and move pool is fantastic...but it’s hard to get excited when combat feels hollow, especially for a franchise all about heroes stronger than Superman.

Gaming Trend 65/100

Link to Review

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is excellent fan-service and has a ton of potential, which makes it frustrating as hell to see it held back by technical issues and repetitious combat.

Xbox Achievements 55/100

A game for the Dragon Ball purists, Xenoverse is unlikely to appeal to anyone else.

Arcade Sushi 4.5/10

Link to Review

Fans have been wishing for the perfect Dragon Ball Z game for a long time, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse makes it clear that they'll need to collect the dragon balls again and wish for something else, because this thing sucks harder than Yamcha.

Now it's your turn. Let's see what you think of the game. If you want to give it a score? Go ahead!

Spring Patch #3 "Suppression now affects weapon recoil" Fresh fom Reddit

To say that this change is controversial is most likely the understatement of the year, because the community is split in 2 camps since suppression started to more than a visual effect in Battlefield 3, where it began to influence the gun mechanics of a suppressed player.

There are those who like it and those who do not like it - and we don't quite know if its split evenly or if one of these groups is larger. Judged by the noise, the group that is against this very idea of affecting the gun mechanics is the larger one. And I am part of that group that is against it.

In a nutshell, suppression is the same as the "disable" mechanic we have for vehicles. This means once you get disabled, it gets easier for the enemy to finish you off. "Easier", that is a key word in the development or "evolution" of the Battlefield Franchise even since it entered the Frostbite era. But just like with 3d spotting, there are players who argue that all these features make the game "harder".

Obviously I don't agree that suppression and 3d spotting make the game harder - what I think is this:

The basic function of suppression is that:

  • your aim is not good enough to hit the player, so you don't reduce his heath -> to not have you fail completely, the game at least lets you damage his suppression state

  • the enemy is outside the effective range of your gun, because you use the wrong one for such a distance and so can't damage his health -> to not have you fail completely, the game at least lets you damage his suppression state

  • suppressed players are easier to finish off

Suppression was not added for realism, it was not added for more depth - this is why it is here.

What should suppression NOT be about?

  • It must not put you out of control of your gun by applying arbitrary handicaps in form of increased spread, recoil ,ect. Yes you might have positioned yourself badly in a situation, but if your reactions are better, if your aim is better and if your gun control is better than the one of the shooter, then you should still be able to get out of this situation. If I win a gunfight just because suppression messed with the gunmechanics of the player that I was shooting, then I do not feel that I won for the right reason.

  • It must not reward players for missing, or simply using the wrong gun for a firefight (engaging players outside the effective range of their gun)

What should suppression be about?

Suppression should be something that happens naturally , and not be enforced by changing how your gun works.

This means that if a team wants to hold or lock down a specific area, then they bring the right tool for that. A LMG with a 200 rounds mag and a bipod

So if the enemy enters this area, then the player(s) with the LMG will hold them down, they will suppress them. This means that there are so many bullets flying into the direction of these enemies as soon as they stick their head(s) out, that they don't want to do that because then they get murdered. This will force the enemy to re-position and change their tactics - and all that without messing with their gun mechanics

There should also be a visual effect to indicate that there is quite a big danger present - so that if i peek out, there is a high chance to die very quickly.

You could even discuss the possibility of narrowing the FoV of the player to create tunnel vision (not the Hardline way) to shift the focus of the "suppressed" player to what is infront of him. That would allow your team to flank these players at the location where you are pinning them down to. But they can still fight back as their guns work as they are supposed to.

What is the point of a first person shooter

Stupid question, right?

It's to aim, shoot, hit, and kill the enemy players

This is what you are meant to do, this is what your goal is (besides playing the objective) and that is what you have to get rewarded for.

As long a suppression affects gun mechanics it will reward players for missing, and choosing the wrong gun. It also creates an imbalance in the gunfights because in some cases the only reason for your to win the gunfight was because some random joe "suppressed" that player, by firing at him from outside the effective range of his gun.

This has nothing to do with killing a guy because he positioned himself badly, or because he had bad gun control. You only won the gunfight with 10 health left because of that random suppression thing to happen - without it, you would have not survived the engagement about the better player.

Without this random element called "suppression" you still have to:

  • play as a team

  • learn the map

  • make the right tactical choices

  • choose the right gun for every map/engagement/situation

  • learn to control your gun

And when you win or loose a gunfight then you know that it was a fair fight (don't drag the netcode into this please ;-) ). Because there was no gamemechanic messing around with how the gun handles when you are under fire.

Since Battlefield 3 there have been a lot of changes to how suppression affects the gun mechanics. But non of these changes appear to make any of the involved parties (gamers and devs) happy.

So DICE (LA), please, the time has finally come to stop beating that dead horse "suppression". Just let the part of DIE that affects the gunmechanics. And stop trying to force and shoehorn this into the game.

The time and energy that is spent on that project would be better used on actually gun handling and creating diversity in how the different weapon types, and firing modes work.

This is what I want as a player who loves first person shooters.

How about you? What do you want?

Extensive Feedback (From the view of a non RB6 Player) Fresh fom Reddit

I posted this in the General Feedback thread but since that thread is a few pages back and I'm still unable to access the alpha forums I decided to post this here.

So I’ve put quite a number of hours into the game and have developed some ideas about some of the game play concepts that I find lacking. I won’t waste too much time in this description but I’d first like to say that I don’t think that this game will get close enough to the emulation of game play from the the earlier entries in the Rainbow Six franchise to make older fans happy. However, I do think there are changes that can be made to make it a more authentic experience and closer to the original franchise without sacrificing Ubisofts vision of the game. I’m not exactly a Rainbow Six veteran but have fond memories of the original series and have extensive experience in other first person shooters both competitively and casually.

Recoil & Ammo

  • The first issue when coming to RB6:S is the concept of recoil and firing rate. The current version of the game really lacks any sort of recoil in majority of the weapons. It seriously is pretty much non-existent except for the DMR. The DMR somehow also has more recoil in repeated single shot than all of the automatic guns in the game. This is problematic for two main reasons. The first is that it damages the skill cap necessary to help prolong a healthy skill cap in first person shooters. Anyone who picks up the game will be able to control the recoil with absolute ease thus limiting some of the learning curve of the game. For a game that seems to be pushing itself as a competitive shooter there must be more skill involved in using the weapons. The second is that due to the low nature recoil of the game mixed with too much ammo; it allows players to senselessly spam doors, walls, floors and more without punishment or any sort of recovery time. This means that players can actively switch target to target without any sort of compensation or penalty for their automatic fire.

  • The ammo issue is simple. Too much ammo allows for too much spamming and doesn’t allow the player to make conscious decisions on if they should conserve or keep shooting. Currently players have enough ammo to pretty much shoot non-stop throughout the round and still have some in reserve. This is bad for people who try to aim their shots and again encourages players to just shoot at everything that moves.

Hitmarkers & Visibility/Models

  • Hitmarkers are my least favorite game play addition to modern shooters within the last decade (well except maybe killstreaks). Hitmarkers completely destroy immersion, tension and honestly have no place in a shooter like RB6:S. Game play wise hitmarkers allow stupidly easy identification for assessing whether or not you hit your target. For a series that considers itself a tactical shooter this is a no-no. Spamming through walls or smoke and effortlessly killing people due to hitmarkers removes tension and dumb down gameplay for the lowest common denominator. Really they aren’t even necessary considering the game has adopted a CS like kill feed anyway so it’s pretty clear when the enemy has been killed. If you think that people from other modern shooters are going to not buy RB6:S because of a lack of hitmarkers Ubisoft are severely mistaken. I’d rather see hitmarkers replaced with other feedback such as audio cues and possibly more visceral blood splatter.

  • The second issue in this category is the visibility. The first issue is that there is way too much clutter on the screen and the game lacks any ability to scale the HUD down. There is a lot of redundant features when it comes to the HUD. For example, I don’t need a visual indicator of who’s alive, huge bold letters on my screen of how many people are left, and also a kill feed that tells me who died. These all practically do the same thing and people aren’t so dumb that they can’t figure out most of these things mid-game. There is also the issue of the white blinding borders of nearby teammates which is also another addition to the game which is both unnecessary on the HUD and ruins immersion. If anything the small square border above teammates heads is simply enough to figure out where your teammates are. Although, personally I’d rather there be no visual indicator of where teammates are. It reduces communication and doesn’t promote good team play.

  • The models currently used for both teams are also one of my huge gripes when it comes to visibility. Both teams practically look exactly the same and this can cause a lot of confusion as to who I’m supposed to shoot. There should be clear cut themes of how enemies should look. What happened to the terrorist like figures wearing balaclavas that were clearly identifiable from the E3 trailer? Who and why made the decision that clearly identified teams were a bad idea?

Movement Speed & Health

  • To put it in simple terms, the movement speed in RB6:S is currently way too fast. Everyone is wearing huge amounts of kevlar and nearly 300 rounds of ammo yet run around like the worlds best 100m sprinters. I feel like I’m watching bees on cocaine zoom throughout the map. The sprint mechanic is problematic for a number of reasons. The first being that it promotes run and gun game play that lacks the charm of games like RB6. Mixed in with the health issue it currently allows you to run into a hail of gunfire and escape death by blindly spraying a non-recoil SMG into the enemy who was tactically holding a corner. The second being that it basically reduces peeking into a pointless mechanic. Why peek around a corner when you can ADAD spam safely and cause your target to miss their shots. Movement overall needs to be slowed to a more tactical pace but especially when aiming. During ADS players should be heavily slowed down giving them increased accuracy but heavily reduced movement speed. The current fast movement speed encourages game play that is opposite to the core of RB6 games and honestly doesn’t seem to fit in with the concept game play of the original RB6:S trailers.

  • If you couldn’t tell by the previous paragraph. Health is a big problem within RB6:S. It takes a ridiculous amount of bullets to kill someone when you do not hit them in the head. I’m not sure if it’s an issue with the netcode or the damage of weapons but I’ve easily seen players absorb 6-10 bullets to near half magazines of ammo. Aiming for headshots should be encouraged but there is no reason that a few body shots shouldn’t take out an enemy.

The Planning Phase & Round Timers

  • The planning phase isn’t much of a planning phase, and the current maps don’t really make much sense in the context of the game. For example, here are screenshots of the current planning map phases. Plane and House Screenshots Why are the prime focuses of the map (the house/plane) so small and so hard to discern important details? The actual game play zone should easily take up 70-80% of the zoomed map space in order to better plan entry areas and where defenders should set up. Another issue on these maps is the inability to draw or make any sort of plan at all where people should go. Some sort of in game pings or the ability to draw on the map would help alleviate some of the boring dead time during the planning phase.

  • One other issue in the planning phase that I feel doesn’t make much sense is the inability for the Blue/CT team to individually pick insertion zones. It often feels like that everyone spawns in the same area and then is forced to run around the target structure to get where they wanted to go anyway. The current favorite seems to be just to pick the most neutral/central area to accomplish this.

  • The current round timers feel a bit too short and force the attackers to work much too quickly to retrieve the hostage. The unlimited barricading in the hands of competent defenders makes it impossible to get through all the doors in-time without getting turned into swiss cheese by a rain of P90 spray.

General Game play Issues/Criticisms (Many of these things are likely to change)

  • No Push-to-talk key. This one is pretty self-explanatory. A PC game must have a Push-to-talk feature. I’m sure this one is coming but it’s driving me crazy hearing John Smith talk to his entire family, blast music through his speakers, and nom on some doritos over his mic.

  • The sound of guns seems a little underwhelming. They lack throatiness and boom factor that should be expected in such CQC.

  • It seems difficult to tell what exactly can be shot through and also what can be breached. The only texture that seems to be universal is the wooden walls, but to my surprise many walls and floors have been destroyable but there isn’t much clear indication that they could be.

  • The heartbeat sensor should honestly be removed. It is incredibly overpowered in it’s current state and I doubt there is any way that it can be balanced properly. From a pure proof of concept the heartbeat sensor is basically a wallhack. This doesn’t really fit in with the ideas of cameras and drones since those require communication between teammates and can be countered. The only thing I can think of is that it could show where people are perhaps every 15-20 seconds instead of the live-update feed that it currently provides.

  • The shotguns feel under powered compared to the other weapons. I think they should be fairly strong and kill fast but be limited to 1-2 per team. In their current state it feels like they are useless beyond a few feet and that an automatic weapon is better in almost every way.

  • Mouse acceleration is out of control right now.

I think this game has lots of potential and I’m having a lot of fun playing it but there are some core concepts that need to be ironed out for this game to have a strong community and long-term success. Sorry if this comes off as a bit long winded, it took me awhile to collect all my thoughts and hammer out a detailed dialogue. I will likely be adding and editing more to this list as things come up.

Really? Is this game ruined? Fresh fom Reddit

I'm self contemplating if this game is actually ruined for me or not. I finally got to level 85 after maxing out the first time, but this time with the help of the dragon balls. Over the last couple days I summoned the dragon 3 times. Once for Stats, Once for Looks, and Once to get that final level of 611K exp I didn't feel like grinding. Now I finally stop doing player matches and head back to ranked....

And what do I get? Nothing but spammers, spammers in high ranking 5K+ BP ranges. Spammers at 0BP, spammers all around. What the hell is this? I oope to god they fix this game soon and mitigate all this crap so these guys aren't using cheap tactics anymore. Even on youtube people glorify that type of play by making builds that support it, shamelessly support it. They act as if they're being slick by only adding 100 into Ki or Strike supers so it kills almost literally half(if you have low health) or a quarter of your health bar. In which they use the ability over and over every few seconds in between combos.

This sounds like a rant, yes. But when is this going to get fixed? Does anyone even care about the people who want to have an actual fighting game with the franchise they love? WITHOUT others mucking it up for the sake of doing so just to win?
